How the phone companion works
One QR scan connects your phone to PaperTim. From there it is two honest lists and a camera: what needs printing, what needs grading, and the screen to snap it the moment the pencil drops.
One scan connects your phone
Open Settings on your computer and PaperTim shows a QR code. Point your phone camera at it and the phone signs itself in. No password is ever typed on the phone. From there you add PaperTim to your home screen and it opens like any app, on iPhone and Android alike. Codes work once and expire after 10 minutes, and a 6-digit code covers any phone that cannot scan.
The paper queue in your pocket
The companion opens on two honest lists: what waits to be printed and what waits to be graded. Printing usually happens at your computer, and the phone keeps you ahead of it. Approve a worksheet at your desk, print it when you pass the printer, and grade it from the couch while the pencil marks are still fresh.
Grade the moment they finish
Open a finished task and the grading screen offers the camera first. Snap the pages, mark answers with big touch-friendly buttons, and save. Mastery updates the moment you grade, and next week's plan already knows about it.
Private by design
The companion is for parents only. Children never get logins or screens; paper stays their side of PaperTim. Your phone sees exactly what you see at your computer, nothing more, and disconnecting is one log out. Read more on the AI and safety page.

Do I need to install an app from an app store?
No. PaperTim installs straight from your browser to your home screen. Nothing to download from a store, nothing to keep updated.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. One scan signs Android in, with an install button right there. On iPhone you add PaperTim to your home screen from Safari's Share menu, and the phone walks you through it.
Can my child use the phone app?
No. The companion is for parents. Children work on paper, and the phone is your camera and your queue.
Can I print from my phone?
You can, if your phone can reach your printer. In practice printing lives at the computer, and the phone keeps the queue in your pocket so nothing waits unnoticed.
What if my code expires?
Codes work once and expire after 10 minutes. Open Settings, then Connect your phone on your computer, and scan a fresh one.
